This has probably been asked many a time but I have a scenario - in the next 5 min shtf happens and there is no way you can leave the house where you sit right now, how long can you live for given that you can't walk say no more than
50 metres from your current location and also no change in your current lifestyle and yes the grid has gone down and the water mains as well.
I'm thinking it would be dependent on my 60,000 litres swimming pool being contaminated, if that was still ok and presuming family all pool in one place I'm thinking 6 ugly months, maybe?

first off if I could only walk 50 meters were the hell did the rest of my land go or did I loose my legs(but then I wouldn't be walking right?)
next my water comes from a well and I have a second with a good old fashioned hand pump capping it I usually use it for watering the misses gardens but the water is clean and drinkable.
so the parameters you specify do nor exist in my world.

Ok, I will extend the scenario to you can't leave your land area.

Is the ground contaminated, is there ash floating around or is the weather normal, do I have any electronic devices or did those get fried when the grid went down?

Air is fine just no food anywhere enemies have just destroyed the main grid all your stuff that doesn't depend on the grid works

Would make very little difference to me, off grid for everything and I only go into town every month or so as it is. I don't grow food so that will eventually force me out I suppose, in a couple of years.
Fair question for unprepared people in towns though.

Grid down will affect both freezers and refrigerators. Fresh water source available . Couple months for sure Longer deep ding on time of year.

The best thing that could happen is be sitting right here and not have to get back here. How long can we make it here generation on generation. This is why we prep

I would be okay for a while, measured in 6 weeks to a couple of months IN SUMMER. After that I'm hurting if I can't get to the creek. In winter, I would be out chopping down my trees and taking the chainsaw to the garage. It would be uncomfortable, but I'd survive until the water ran out.
