    Travel

I recently signed up for a trip to Vegas in December, and immediately found myself in a predicament. Obviously I can't take my bug out bag out there with me. Furthermore, I'm not even sure that the material I'd need in Nevada is the same as the material I have included in my bag back here in VA.

To me, the chances of needing survival gear while traveling are the same as the chances of needing it at home. So the question is, does anyone have suggestions for travel prepping?

Bring a gun, when we visited the Chicken Ranch, workers there tried to rob us. Me and "Bill" weren't letting that fate happen to my 2 buddies

Drive, for one, that will allow you to bring what ever you need. I would YouTube a person around that area to get an idea of things you might need.

If you know someone there... you could mail a Nevada-focused BOB out there and have it waiting for you. Then... have your friend mail it back after you leave. It's expensive... but an option. If you don't know anyone... i.e., you are on vacation... mail it to the hotel and have them mail it home. They would happily do that for a ummm... "small"... ummm... fee.

Option two... research the area and figure out where you need to go to get the things you would need. Watch the news... ect.... and be prepared to leave any meetings, partying etc... to start gathering supplies. A quick trip to Walmart during any confusion will get you most of what you need for the short term... and in the confusion... you wouldn't even have to wait in line to pay for it. By confusion, I mean that hours long state where the mass public is running around freaking out and crying and wondering when the government is going to step in and set things right. That's also the time the predators strike... so be ready for that as well. You might even manage to get some free weapons from them if you are prepared.

Driving is not an option. I would have to take much more time off from school and it just wouldn't be worth it. I figure I can put some small stuff in my suitcase (I keep a hammock and tarp for shelter in my bug out bag). I can also pack some snacks and such in there. I also need to check the TSA restrictions for things like knives and the like. I'm pretty sure I can put them in checked luggage, but not carry on.

I never carry much cash, so I'm not worried about being mugged.

You know that... the mugger doesn't and might be more pissed because he wasted his time. If nothing else... carry a throw-away wallet with $20 in small bills.... hand that to him or toss it and run. A mugger will usually go for the wallet.

Or my personal favorite, take his weapon if within reach and watch his face and attitude, change within a milli sec, then ask for his wallet.... funniest thing you will ever see.

Warning: Do not try this at home or on the street, please leave mugging muggers to the pros

Another easy way to get out of a mugging is to carry a decoy wallet usual place you carry your wallet. Stick a couple useless cards in there and 2 bucks. Throw the wallet at the mugger and run away fast.
