    My dad did it for a number of years through the 60's and 70's. He was also part of an underwater recovery team for five or six years until they were called to recover the body of a child that went off a bridge with a suicidal mother. They found the child and he quit that day... said it he never wanted to be called into something like that again. It took him a while to get past it.

    I'm getting a bit old for some of the physical response demands as well, so I function largely as the comms guy... conduct basic communication protocol training & drills, and man Net Control if we have people not working directly under lead responders.
