Annie, I think you're right. My parents had some WWII camping gear that was dense and heavy. Not much metal stuff since there were scrap drives in their area.

Then again, with that inside liner with the holes, it could be a "tea cozy" where you put whole leaves in the first stage and simmer it with hot water. Of course, the inside should be stained. Other than that, I haven't a clue.

    Veggie steamer?
It will be a great day when our schools have all the money they need, and politicians have to start selling candy bars and holding car washes to finance their campaigns.

Annie, I am all about the crappy old stuff but this one has me stymied.

Reminds me of a grease pot my mom had for bacon fat. The HOT grease would be put in the top, drains
into the bottom part, straining the meat scraps out. But could be used as a vegie steamer, for sure.

Looks like you could boil the grounds in the coffee and then drop in the strainer and pour a cup. Not sure though.

Back in the days when men made of iron rode bikes forged in steel, we had a silly name for any piece of equipment we could not identify. We called these bizarre inventions "overhead, under-slung, re-capitulators."

Then again, I'm sure it's a WWII tea pot.

Coffee press? It's some kind of percolator or something. Shiny!
