    The Sasquatch Chronicles

Is this a Squatch print? Nope. Just a cool configuration of rocks near our campsite. Not sure if someone placed them this way or they just sorta became like this.

I shared a bit of the story of my engagement on our podcast and promised to do it here as well. Although none of us has met you people are like family so I thought I'd share more for anyone who is interested. If you are interested read on...

This is the first time I will be married. First time I have ever asked anyone to marry me actually. I'm 45 years old and a lot of people, including probably some of you, are wondering why it has taken me so long. Well the short version is I decided to change careers some years ago and that is when I went into radio. Since radio is such a crappy industry it was very hard to get into. That meant I had to work both jobs and that left me very little time for a social life. I spent 15 years do both jobs and did very little serious dating. After realizing radio was a horrible business I gave it up, which gave me much more free time. I started dating more regularly and met some nice girls but they were not meant for me. Fortunately, about a year ago, Hot Nursey came into my life. We went on one date and I knew there was something different about her. Not only was she beautiful but she had goodness to her. She was genuine and not fake like most girls in California. On our first date we talked a lot and I knew she was special. I thought she might be the one. A little after our first date I was headed out for a solo backpacking trip. I received a text from her as I was driving out of town that basically said "You are a nice guy and I had a great time on our date but I'm not sure I'm ready to be dating again. I wish you the best". I thought a lot about that text while I was in the woods by myself. When I got home I went to my parents house to visit and they asked me about the girl I had the date with. I told them the story of the text and my mom said "I'm sorry to hear that. I know you really liked her". I told my mom not to worry and that I would hear from her again. Not sure why I knew that but I did. About a week later I got another text from Hot Nursey asking if she could call me. She called and explained she was scared and didn't mean to send me away. Then she asked for another chance to which, of course, I said yes. And since that day we've had a great relationship and have gotten to know each other very well. Her family loves me and I love her family. All very good people.

Hat Nursey has two kids and I'll get to that later. But in March we went on a cruise to Mexico. All 4 of us crammed into a cabin for 7 days. If things were going to go sideways they would have done it on this trip. But alas it was a great trip and we bonded like a family. After that trip I knew I wanted to marry her but I also wanted to make sure it wasn't a fluke that it went so well. We've spent every weekend together since and we've had our ups and downs as any family does but whenever I'm not with them they are all I think about.

Now to Yosemite. Our trip was coming up and I knew it would be the perfect place to ask her to marry me. Hot Nursey doesn't wear a lot of jewelry so I had no idea what kind of ring to buy her. I opted instead to buy her a temporary ring that had sentimental value. Our time in Yosemite was great. On the second to the last night we were there I decided to pop the question. As we had done every night while we were there we took a walk at dusk. This time I picked out a nice trail by the river. We walked along the trail until we got deep enough into the woods we could have some privacy. We stopped for a break so the kids could rest. While we were standing there I reached into my pocket and pulled out the box with the ring. I got down on one knee and took here hand and asked her to marry me. It was funny when I asked and she said yes, here son said "really? Is this really happening? Really? Really? This is really happening?". He even asked the next day to make sure we weren't playing a joke on him.

Back to the kids. Hot Nursey has two kids. One of the things that helped me fall in love with her is how well she had raised her kids. Her son is 12 and he is a great kid. On our Yosemite trip he and I spent hours walking down the river fishing. Even though we didn't catch much it was great fishing together. He listens to me probably better than he listens to his mom. He's very respectful and craves a father figure. He and I get a little closer everyday. She also has a 6 year old daughter. Her daughter was born with Downs Syndrome. She is an angel. Everyone she comes in contact with is a better person for having met her. She can spot a fake person from a mile away and she is full of tons of love. Not to mention she cracks us up on a daily basis. She is the sweetest little girl I have ever met. She can be a brat too but she knows her limits and 99% of the time is perfect. I've never been around someone with Downs Syndrome so this has been a crash course for me in learning about it. Although she is 6 she has the mentality of a 4 year old and will most likely be with me and Hot Nursey for the rest of her life. If you would have asked me 10 years ago if that was something I could handle I probably would have said no. But now, after her being in my life, I wouldn't want it any other way. Downs Syndrome kids somehow bring out the best in people and if God put Angels on this earth he did so in the form of Down Syndrome kids.

So there you have it. My life in a nutshell. I hope you've enjoyed reading the story as much as I have enjoyed living it.

Squatch and Hot Nursey/Lady Sas in Yosemite. If you look carefully in the back you can see upper Yosemite falls.

Somehow they got ahead of me. But I caught up.

"You are a nice guy and I had a great time on our date but I'm not sure I'm ready to be dating again. I wish you the best". Yep, that's the line most use. There used to be a saying, hope I get this close. "If you love someone let them go, if they come back it was meant to be". Something like that, nice story, wishing you all a long and happy life together.

Congratulations Squatch! As much crap as I give you about it, I am really very happy for you. (I am also glad to see Hot Nursey is a chick.)

Now, take the gal and the kids and get the hell out of California ASAP!!! It is your responsibility as a man and as a husband to not put them through that hell!!! Give me a shout if you want. I know a pretty good spot in rural AZ.

Sas thanks for sharing that wonderful story. Now, I am going to agree with Inor 100%. GET YOUR FAMILY OUT OF KALIFORNSTAN as fast as possible. Her being a nurse and you being a....whatever, you will be able to find something in a more better suited state. As I have stated several times on this forum my bride and I are heading back home to Idaho. (Should of never left). The "Left Coast" is no place for a family.

Congrats! You're boxing above your weight Let us know where the bachelor party is being held and I'll bring the donkey ... or not.
As others have said, flee the state as soon as possible. Hot Nurse can work anywhere with a California license.
    Once again, Good on Ya!
