Today's Prep: Fix Motel Up for my 30,000 ladies

Did not have time or gumption to do it over the winter, . . . went out and got it done today.

Install em tomorrow, . . . the top super for my beehive.

    Last year, only took off 9 frames, . . . still got 11 quarts of honey, . . .

Hoping to do as well this year.

    May God bless,
    Dwight

    Actually, no...........

Honey bee workers are all female, . . . only the drones are male, . . . one time in their life (if they are lucky) they get to breed with one queen on her maiden flight. She comes back to the hive to live out her days, . . . and toward the end of the summer, . . . all the drones are killed off, . . .

    No matter how you cut it, . . . a bee's life ain't easy.

    May God bless,
    Dwight

Good luck, last 10 years around here has been hard on bees . Many hives have died off.
New life as a house husband, major shift in duties.

Karl Marx said, "Destroy their culture, rewrite their history. Ruin their art and literature, and defame their heroes, by offering fabrications to scandalize that which they considered good.
After reading this Obama said I am on it.

    Yeah, Smitty901, . . . you know the old saying, . . . been there, . . . done that, . . .

Had one MT hive for a couple of years, . . . kept it around sorta for decoration, . . . went out one day, . . . a swarm had moved in.

Did not get any honey in 2014, . . . got 11 qts last year, . . . hoping for more this year, . . . I have to be very careful of it, . . . somehow just using it for tea or coffee, . . . my weight can balloon like nobody's business.

But I still use it sparingly, . . . mostly keep it for "reserve" should the stuff wind up dripping off the fan blades.

But I encourage everyone I can to get their own hive, . . . they are easy to care for, . . . and once you get over that big initial investment, . . . upkeep is minimum, . . . unless you live in bear country.

    May God bless,
    Dwight

Skunks tear up hives on the farm we use for pollination.
