    Don't know about Indiana, but in Mississippi you can request that the company not do the bush-hogging or whatever maintenance needs to be done on the easement. But that means you have an obligation to do it! We looked at a couple of properties like that and after learning more about it, took those properties off our list.

    I remember a study years ago that found that families that lived within 400 yards of transmission lines had much higher rates of leukemia in children under twelve. Caviot Emptor.

    I have transmission lines running through my property. My house is within 100 yards of them. No humming...no EMI issues....and I haven't noticed any health issues.... plus I haven't noticed any health issues....

    If its just the area immediate to the easement then I wouldn't touch it. You ain't gonna have anything to build on.
