    Undoubtedly, . . . there will always be some to remember, . . .

    Thankfully, . . . there will always be some to remember, . . .

Mark Antony said in Caesar's funeral: "The good that men do is oft interred with their bones", but I have found that that is not necessarily true. Sometimes the good is only mediocre good, . . . and that may be true in that case.

In this case, . . . there is nothing mediocre in their sacrifice, . . . it was all they had, . . . they gave it all, . . . they will be remembered if not by the masses, at least by their families.

I have a distant cousin who was killed on the USS Oklahoma, . . . never met him, . . . have no picture of him, . . . only saw his name on the wall at Pearl Harbor, . . . but I'm looking forward to meeting him in heaven. Until then, he is not forgotten.

    May God bless,
    Dwight

If you can read, . . . thank a teacher.

If you are reading this in English, . . . thank a veteran.

Not that it matters, but 2 of the names are of swedish origins, Hjort and Westerberg.

bumping this back up to the top.
It has been 49 years now, they would be in their late 60's, early 70's.

    And if all followed suit like it should have, . . . married. . . kids . . . grandkids . . . probably retired.

All cut short...... made to not exist at all.

Lots of people make big money on war . . . I want to say that I hope they all rot in hell . . . but I'll be satisfied if they just repent and do something else.

    May God bless,
    Dwight

I was very young, but I do remember. May God rest his soul and give Billy's family His peace today.

Pfc. William A. Maguire Jr. wrote in 1969: “We are all scared. They say when fear is in a man, he is prepared for anything. When fear possesses the man he is prepared for nothing. As of now fear is in me. I hope I can keep it from possessing me.” Three weeks after writing that, Private Maguire died of a fever. He was 20.

Mother had a picture on the mantle of a sailor who was a boyfriend of hers' before she met my father.

That picture was there for decades before we moved.

It was there in memoriam of him, he died on December 7, 1941.

They were still pen pals, she got a letter from him weeks after the attack dated Dec 6, 1941.

I was in Fall River for the commissioning of the Battleship Massachusetts, but was too young to remember it.

I think his death was one of the reasons she went there to work on the construction of the BB.

I know too many that did not come home from these wars.
