SHTF LAN/communication hub
Last night, I was racking my brains out on a way to restore networking and communications in a SHTF situation for a local group of people that are basically not prepared so they only have cellphones and laptops.
I have a basic idea but need you guys to talk me through the idea, help me out, give me a sense of direction or what have you.
Combine a 1Gbit wi-fi router with a rasberrypi running a linux kernel with an apache server, msql.....then create a basic website from an opensource forums package.
IE this website but not connected to an internet provider.
This establishes a local wireless network, and a gathering place to exchange information of any kind. Also, the private messaging system could serve as an improvised email service.
Wouldn't it be awesome if this could also mesh with other like systems through a ham radio connection? I think this might already exist as an open source project, anyone know where to find it?
What do you guys think? I think the moral aspect of this would be huge. It would provide p-p networking, and it could also provide an infrastructure for security sensors and automation.
