A lot of people hunt with compounds around here, and I understand the arrow selection and draw length about them.
Tell me what are some other options, does anyone hunt with a recurve, traditional bow, longbow etc?
What's the best for small to medium game? A compound can take down deer or larger, how about the others?

Get a 22 LR and a silencer and be done.

I already have a .22. I want to get into bow hunting and was just wondering what other options there are.
Debating on a silencer or not right now but probably not in the cards in the near future.

A recurve, traditional bow or long bow can do anything a compound can do. It is just more difficult. Sights vs no sights. Fingers vs a release. Speed and power, extend effective range and make longer shots easier with a compound. A compound also with the let off will allow one to aim and hold a draw longer with out having to release.
I have no experience with a long bow but I have some limited experience with a recurve. And I have tried a traditional bow. A compound to me just made taking any sort of game easier. Think black powder vs modern firearms. Black powder gets the job done but a modern firearms makes the same job easier. This is why competitions have different categories for each of these bow types. Scores in each category reflect this as the less complex and more traditional the bowman becomes the top scores drop significantly.
