Haven't gone that far yet! But I have made 8 mm Mauser brass from 30/06.
We have a four box system, the soap box,the ballet box,the jury box and the cartridge box!

If you feel up to trying, let me know, can put up some pics of the tooling. The critical part is swagging the primer pocket evenly. got a brass centering collar slides over cartridge, a ball bearing to swag the pocket, and punch that slides right down inside the brass collar ontop of the bearing.

I've been saving my 7.5x55 brass with the thought of doing this down the road. Either converting to boxer or reloading with berdan primers but I haven't run out of milsurp ammo yet to try either way.

I did it with 7.7 Jap a long time ago, made the sizing dies also.

Made the tooling to put in the flash hole and swage the pocket.

No big real, being a toolmaker/engineer by trade/profession.

The biggest project was converting 7.62 NATO into 7.92 Kurtz.

No, I never did--or needed to.

When the MAKs and the AKs came out, we could buy cases (some 1,300 rounds) of steel cased Chinese 7.62x39mm ammunition. As for .223 (or 5.56 NATO), I never had to buy brass. I would find it by the bucket-load at the range. I would tumble it, trim it to the proper length, chamfer the case mouth and the swedge out the primer pocket for civilian primers--the #6 as I remember.

Just about the time I quit doing this, American companies brought out the 7.62x39mm with boxer primers and the whole thing seemed moot.
