Charging the batteries with solar power is going to be a lot of fun. Ad astra per aspera!
A thought, When designing a solar system with good panels, proper wiring sizing, and a highly efficient MPPT charge controller (98% efficient) solar installers figure that the panel, controller, battery section of the system is only 77% efficient at returning the power. This means that if 100 watts of energy is produced by the panels only 77% is actually absorbed by the batteries.

LA and AGM batteries are about 80-85% efficient
    Lithiums are about 90% efficient
Nichol Iron are about 70% efficient
    Talk is cheap, actions count.
